Indrani Tahbildar Suicide Case: Prime Suspect Faces Court Amid Embezzlement Allegations

GUWAHATI: In a developing case surrounding the suicide of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha secretary Indrani Tahbildar, the alleged prime suspect, Anurag Chaliha, is scheduled to appear before court on Wednesday following the conclusion of his seven-day police custody. Chaliha, implicated in the tragedy due to leaked photos with Tahbildar, has been under police custody since the incident.

Indrani Tahbildar's suicide was reportedly triggered by the circulation of intimate photos of her and Anurag Chaliha on social media, which ultimately led to her untimely death. Chaliha, who had initially gone into hiding following the incident, was apprehended on August 14 in Demow, Sivasagar.

Apart from his involvement in the suicide case, Chaliha faces allegations of embezzling a substantial sum of money from individuals seeking employment within the state government. It is alleged that he orchestrated a cash-for-job scam, defrauding countless aspirants of their hard-earned money.

Recent developments in the investigation saw Chandmari Police conduct a thorough search at the residence where Indrani Tahbildar resided, and where Chaliha had been staying as a tenant. This operation resulted in the discovery of crucial evidence corroborating claims of cash-for-job scams. Additionally, information pertaining to candidates who fell victim to the fraudulent scheme by offering money in exchange for government job opportunities was recovered.

Meanwhile, another twist in the narrative has emerged, involving BJP leader Mriganka Barman. Barman has been summoned by the police and directed to appear at the Chandmari Police Station. The exact reasons for his summons remain undisclosed, further adding to the intrigue surrounding this complex case.
